2019-nCoV (COVID-19)

DiaPlexQ™ Novel Coronavirus Detection Kit (2019-nCoV)

CORONAVIRUS

The coronavirus is a virus that can infect animals and humans, and there are six known species of coronavirus that can infect humans. Four of these are known to be the virus responsible for diseases such as colds, and the other two are classified as the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and the SARS-CoV(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus), which have had a fatal effect on humans.

Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) OUTBREAK

2019-nCoV

The novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China, has been transmitted from animals to humans at first, and its base sequencing has confirmed that the new coronavirus matches the SARS-like virus from bats, 79 percent similar to SARS-CoV, and about 50 percent similar to the MERS-COV Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.

The novel coronavirus has a incubation period of about 14 days in the body, and is known to have a lower fatality rate compared to SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, while its incidence is higher. Also, it is very important to diagnose new corona viruses correctly because they have a similar sequence to the corona viruses in the same genus.

According to WHO Report, Globally 34,886 of confirmed cases have been reported in 24 countries (13 in Asia, 9 in Europe, 2 in  North America), 34,598 cases are in China and 288 cases are outside of China (as of Feb. 09. 2020)

The symptoms of novel coronavirus infections are known to cause mild symptoms such as a fever, cough and runny nose, pneumonia.  Until now, there are 724 cases of deaths due to infections.

Human-to-human transmission of the virus has been confirmed. It is possible that the virus can be infectious even during the incubation period, but this has not been proven, and the World Health Organization (WHO) states that “transmission from asymptomatic cases is likely not a major driver of transmission” at this time.

DiaPlexQ™ Novel Coronavirus Detection Kit (2019-nCoV)

Product Overview

DiaPlexQ™  Novel Coronavirus Detection Kit ( 2019-nCoV ) is designed to detect the nucleic acid of novel coronavirus contained in total RNA extracted from blood suspected patients using the principle of real-time RT PCR.

Product Features

SolGent’s OneStep qRT-PCR method performs RT reaction and Real-time PCR amplification reaction sequentially in one tube without separate experiment for Reverse Transcription (RT) reaction. Through this method, the detection time, detection cost and detection sensitivity were improved compared to conventional PCR diagnosis.

It is designed so that qRT-PCR reaction can be done by 2X OneStep qRT-PCR Buffer (2019-nCoV), OneStep qRT-PCR Enzyme Mix (2019-nCoV), RTase, DNA polymerase, RNase inhibitor and Primer & Probe Mixture (2019-nCoV) contained in the Kit. In addition, it also provides a Control Template (2019-nCoV) to compare results with clinical samples and enable accurate interpretation of results.

Expected effect

Clinicians can check the diagnosis results of the Novel Coronavirus and other infective viruses(influenza, coronavirus) that have similar symptoms to Novel Coronavirus quickly and accurately. As a result, rapid treatment and prescribing of infected patients is possible, shortening the treatment period, reducing costs, and contributing to the prognosis of the disease.

This will help establish a national epidemic crisis response system in the ongoing global pandemic.
